field recordings, digital synthesis, and ableton live tracks; edited and arranged in adobe audition

the soundscapes project is a collection of compositions made during my pursuit of my undergrad degree. its purpose was twofold: to explore the various ways of capturing and creating artistic sound, and to put those methods to use in composing layered soundscapes that immerse the listener.

my personal sound library came about from months of collecting field recordings, digital synthesizer sounds made using native instruments software, and instrumental samples created in ableton live. each audio clip was then further processed individually in adobe audition before being used in any larger composition.

the soundscapes themselves are intended to transport listeners to environments that feel somewhat nostalgic and familiar, but with an unsettling twist. guitar melodies and gurgling brooks intermingle with distorted voices and warped sounds of children’s toys to create a shadowy sonic world.
